Chiropractic care. Something many people believe to be hooey or nonsense. However, for those in the know, chiropractic care is one of the best holistic medical practices known to man. Especially when the chiropractor is one of the best kept secrets for athletes of the Olympics, NBA, and many other sports coming out of the Spokane area. Meet Doctor Raymond Sicilia, or more commonly known to all as just Doctor Ray.
Affectionately called Doc Crunch by some of his patients, Doctor Ray is a well-known and loved chiropractor in the Spokane area and beyond. Some travel great distances to be seen by him and with good reason. His caring heart, passion for helping everyone with just his knowledge and his hands, and of course, his astounding ability to have incredible results in short order have won him the amazing reputation of being one of the best chiropractors around. He has been in practice since 1995 and been at his office on Garland Ave since November 2, 2001. But what started this nearly 30 years of experience and exceptional practice? For that, we have to go back to his childhood.
Born and raised in Spokane, Washington, Doctor Ray was just 4 years old when his father had two discs rupture at the same time. His father was then sentenced to life bound to a hospital bed in the living room with many medications to keep the pain at bay for 4 more years. He finally was able to go see a chiropractor and within just a few treatments was back on his feet walking and no longer bound to the hospital bed. After seeing the incredible results of chiropractic care and watching his father go from a hospital bed to living life, Doc knew exactly what he planned to do with his life and exactly how to make his parents proud of him. He spent the rest of his growing years striving to be the best he could to achieve that goal.
From high school to college and body building, Doc graduated in 1995 as a chiropractor and started working for another chiropractor. Soon after he decided to strike out on his own and start Inland Wellness Corporation and build Sicilia Chiropractic into what it is today. Nearly 30 years later, he hasn’t changed a bit in his love for chiropractic care. One of his favorite things to see on a nearly daily basis is how patients can come in nearly being carried and walking out on their own after being adjusted. Knowing how life changing his care can be for his patients drives him to open each day. He believes in treating everyone from as young as 3 days old to his oldest patient who is currently well over 90 years. “I treat from womb to tomb!” as he often says. With this in mind, he treats everyone how he wants to be treated, with kindness and compassion but also efficiently, thoroughly, and with great results.
In addition to his chiropractic, his office offers massage therapy. It is a perfect additive to chiropractic care as they work in tandem to heal the body from within. According to many patients, there is nothing quite like a good massage session and an adjustment to settle the mind and body for whatever they have planned. He gets in for a massage from our therapists himself once in a while to make sure that he stays in tip top shape for his patients.
Doctor Ray has gotten to see a good many things change in the Spokane area over the course of his time both growing up and as a businessman. His roots are deeply planted here in Spokane, and he wouldn’t want to live or practice anywhere else. It’s part of why he has built such a family-oriented space not only for his patients, but even more so for his staff. He wants them to be able to grow and work anywhere but loves that they choose to stay in this office because it is like a little family. When he looks to the future, he sees a long and fulfilled life of continuing his practice even beyond retirement. For him, doing what he loves means he never truly works, and he looks forward to the office growing with more patients he can help achieve a life they want to live. In the meantime, he fills his time outside of the office with his family first and his hobbies second. His hobbies are well known and create another great connection point for his staff and patients. Among other things, they include hunting, working out at a local gym, shooting at the range, traveling and of course, football. Doc is known as a diehard Chiefs fan.
So, when you walk into the office and see that twinkle in Doc’s eye and hear his excited “Let’s Go!”, just know you are in the best of hands, and life is about to feel a whole lot better.
